Drilling Service Co. executive vice president Jeffrey Murphy has been named as the new president of Construction Forum. Joining him on the executive committee are Shonnah Paredes (VP), manager of diversity programs for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District, and Doug Mueller, CPA (Treasurer), partner at WIPLFI.
The Executive Committee slate was submitted by the Construction Forum nominating committee, then approved by the board at their recent meeting. The dynamic slate of 20 new directors, in addition to 5 founding directors, took office on Aug. 19, 2020. With the appointment of the incoming executive committee members, founding directors have assumed ex-officio status.
“The appointment of this very capable executive committee completes the governance revision of the Forum which began with the launch of our new strategic plan,” says Tom Finan, Construction Forum executive director/co-founder. “In the last two years, we have developed robust informational efforts on mental health and vaccination during COVID, advanced the cause of women, black and brown workers with programming and connections, and begun the work of systemic change toward a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workforce.”
For Murphy, the construction industry is a family business. In 1955, deep foundations contracting firm Drilling Service Co. was started by his uncle and soon joined by his father, and that is where Murphy has spent the last 41 years of his career. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri, and his MBA from Washington University.
Drilling Service Co. are the Midwest’s premier deep foundation experts. They know it takes more than the right equipment, experience, and technology to succeed in underground construction – it takes the right people. For more information, visit drillingserviceco.com.
